Welcome to Kazarah and Aeona!

And how should I greet you, dear reader? This is no simple question in my world. Major themes include religious diversity and religious sectarianism – so, each character would greet you differently when they meet you based on which sect they adhere to.

Serena and Sage (from The Acolyte’s Heresy) adhere to Pax Matrimonia. It is a very minor sect, and its primary teachings is that Aeoni-Kazari intermarriages will lead to Aeoni-Kazari peace. Serena, Sage, and any of the peace children they were raised with, would greet you with, “May God’s peace be with you.”

Kara (from The Acolyte’s Heresy), who adheres to Xotidie – a sect that focuses on practical good living and dominates in the Kazari duchy of Bethelhalan in the foothills and plains – would say: “May my deeds be virtuous in the eyes of God.” And if you also adhered to Xotidie, you would respond: “And may they be good in the eyes of your neighbor and the stranger.” 

Seira (from The Acolyte’s Heresy), and Rissa and Rhenise (from Rissa Must Die) hail from the Kazari coastal duchy of Velharan. There, Rites – a sect focused on beauty – flourishes. When you encounter Seira, Rissa, or Rhenise for the first time, the proper greeting would be: “May our encounter be pleasing to the Glorious One.”

And finally, if you are from the mountain kingdom of Aeona – as Avril (from The Acolyte’s Heresy), and Anisha and Therise (from Forbidden Ember) are – then it is almost certain you adhere to Salvation, a sect that teaches submission to God. The Aeonis are more casual than the Kazaris, but the formal, and thus rarely used, initial greeting would be: “May God forgive your resistance and accept your submission.”
