Therise and Anisha are Aeoni intercessors – chosen to learn the secret art of manipulating these sacred gifts: fire from Fire, Flood water, and Frost ice. As war threatens to engulf Aeona, Therise and Anisha spend as much time aligning their pleas with the Seven Most Holy’s will as arguing against those in the Aeoni court who seek to weaponize the divine elements.

When Therise discovers Anisha’s dead body, her rage accidentally piques the Seven Most Holy’s interest, killing the enemy soldiers she blames for Anisha’s death. After her loss of control triggers the war they had all been dreading, Therise flees to the neighboring empire. Even there, Therise’s guilt threatens to overwhelm her until Anisha’s grieving lover hunts her down and questions Therise’s memory of Anisha’s last moments.

Their shared quest for redemption and the truth leads Therise and the swordsman back to Aeona, to confront the darkness that threatens to unleash the Seven Most Holy’s wrath on the world.
